The weather has been beautiful recently in Amarillo. The sun has been shining. We are about to hit the month of March. Nothing but spring and warm weather fills our heads. Even if we know the Texas Panhandle's weather is unpredictable. It can change tomorrow. We know that.

When the weather is beautiful we get outside more. We want a cool treat. Our snow cone stands will soon be open and serving us those delicious treats. I recently asked about one of our favorite long-standing snow cone stands.

What is Going to Happen to Cool Cats Snow Cone Stand?

I asked because the location of this beloved snow cone stand is about to become the home of a gas station. I was curious as to whether or not they were going to have to move. When we lived over there my daughter and I visited that snow cone stand a lot.

We remember the stickers. We remember the frog hats. The owner I had forgotten was lovingly called "Frog Man" because of his hats. I found a sad update recently that I was not expecting.

This update might mean the end for Cool Cats. The owner, Billy Wall, who had a couple of loving nicknames like "Cool Cat" or "Frog Man" passed away late last year. I really wasn't expecting that to be the outcome.

Now I don't know if he had made plans for the snow cone stand upon his death. I guess only time will tell. We just know that Billy will not be manning the stand this season or in the future.

It made me really sad to read this update. I had to text my daughter too. That snow cone stand was a major part of her childhood. We took many trips to get a refreshing treat.

Even though the Google listing says it is "temporarily closed" I don't know if it is temporary or not. Many things lead to this being the sad end. With Billy passing away and a new gas station about to be built. We will have to keep an eye out and see what is to come.
