There are always things happening around Amarillo. You just have to take the time to discover them. Some of the things happening start behind the scenes, and then they are brought to our attention.

Sometimes we find out because there is an ask to the community. The best part is when the need is something that makes you chuckle. The want is something that shouldn't be asked about in 2025. It happened, though, and it leads us to wanting to know more.

Amarillo’s Drive-In Makes a Strange Request

That is more than likely the intent of Tascosa Drive In. They are on the quest to find something that is apparently hard to find in this day and time. They made the ask, and I bet they will come through.

According to a recent social media post, this is what they are seeking:

Alright, Amarillo… we need your help. Tascosa Drive-In is on the hunt for polka bands. Yes, you read that right—accordions, tubas, lederhosen, the whole deal.
If you’ve got a cousin, neighbor, or mysterious uncle who disappears every October and comes back smelling like bratwurst and beer, we need their number.
Drop us your leads, tag your polka people, or just send us smoke signals in 3/4 time. We’re ready to make the Drive-In bounce like an oom-pah-pah parade.
Share this around—because somewhere out there is the Amarillo polka king (or queen), and we’re determined to find them!

Why a Polka Band in 2025?

Of course, the request sounds interesting. Why do they need a polka band? Does it tie into a movie night? Is it to celebrate the upcoming Oktoberfest? Will they be hosting a polka for the city to come out and enjoy? What is going on?

Community Curiosity About Tascosa’s Plans

We can't wait to find out what this is all about. I am sure Amarillo will love it. Until then, if you have any leads, hunt them down and get them connected with Tascosa Drive-In.
