The weather we had earlier this week wreaked havoc on the area, and continued to as all of the ice and snow started melting.

There have been reports of power outages in our area, road conditions were horrible, and several events had to be canceled. That includes Night of the Living Zoo that was scheduled for this week at the Amarillo Zoo.

The last night of the Halloween themed event at the Amarillo Zoo has been canceled, putting an early end to the event.  In an announcement made on social media yesterday, the zoo stated that Night of the Living Zoo was being canceled because "site conditions" are "too poor" to have the scheduled event.

They stated that refunds were being issued and stated it might take three to five business days for the refund to show in your account.

A previous announcement had mentioned that the zoo would not be open to the public on Halloween.

Thankfully tomorrow, Halloween, has a much better forecast than the earlier part of this week. There are still a lot of events planned for this weekend. I recommend double checking to make sure any events you plan on attending haven't been canceled or changed.

If you're looking for other ways to celebrate Halloween in Amarillo, we've put together a couple of lists for you. One has several trunk-or-treats listed, the other list has several bigger events planned for our area.

We hope that you all have a happy and safe Halloween however you decide to celebrate.
