Guns N’ Roses Battle Concert Delays + Joined by Angus Young for AC/DC Cover in Germany
As Guns N' Roses remain on the road on their 'Not in This Lifetime...' tour, featuring the reunion of Slash and Duff McKagan, the chatter about the group's performances have been remarkably consistent. Last night's (June 22) show in Hannover, Germany recalled the band's infamous issues with punctuality from their earlier days, but for good reason this time. After two delays, fans received an overwhelming surprise when AC/DC's Angus Young walked out onstage.
At first, Guns N' Roses willingly delayed the show, tweeting, "Tonight's show will start 15 mins later than scheduled to ensure that all 20k attendees still waiting to enter are inside the venue." Unfortunately, the next delay would be out of their control as storms passed over the area, forcing a 90 minute cessation early on in the set and GN'R kept their fans updated through Twitter once more (seen below).
Guns N' Roses then announced that the storm was past them, "but another force of nature comes this way." When the band finally returned to the stage, it was quite the payoff for those who stuck out the lengthy delay as Axl Rose's AC/DC bandmate Angus Young took the stage (sans schoolboy outfit) and the group tore into "Whole Lotta Rosie" (video above) as they had at previous concerts where Young was brought up to jam.
Earlier this week, GN'R announced an intimate gig at the legendary Apollo Theater in New York on July 20, which will kick off the next series of their North American tour dates this summer. Another leg will follow in the fall and dates for both treks and more information on the Apollo gig can be found at this location.
In addition to all the touring, it's possible we may see a new GN'R album from the current lineup. Guitarist Richard Fortus revealed that the group has been recording a bunch of ideas, but the formal recording process has yet to commence.
