Earlier today, the City of Amarillo put out a press release outlining how we can help the state of Texas come up with a state broadband plan. Tomorrow (3/24) there's a meeting on the topic, and we're all invited.

Broadband Internet Access For Everyone

The state of Texas is currently working on coming up with a plan to give more people access to the Internet. As part of the planning process, the Texas Comptroller is visiting 12 cities across the state to get input from Texans.

Amarillo happens to be one of the cities on the tour, so to speak.

The Comptroller will be in Amarillo on Thursday 3/24 at 11 AM. The meeting will be held at the Amarillo Civic Center in the Grand Plaza. It's a free event, and registration can be done online by following this link.

Amarillo Has Its Own Broadband Plan For The City

The name of the project is Amarillo Connected. The goal of the program is to provide low cost broadband to Amarillo, which in turn helps around 10,000 students and low income residents in the area.

Reliable Access To The Internet Is A Modern Necessity

As much as many of us want to continue to believe that accessing the Internet is a luxury, it really isn't anymore. It seems that more and more you need to be connected, reliably, to the Internet in order to navigate modern life.

When was the last time you applied for a job? I would be willing to wager that the initial application you filled out was online.

How do you do the majority of your banking? More and more it's being done online.

There's very little anymore that isn't somehow connected to the Internet.
