2024 wasn't the best year for Red Lobster, a beloved and downright nostalgic chain of seafood restaurants. It closed over 100 locations across the country, according to USA Today.

For many chains, that many closures would mark the end of the brand entirely, however, don't underestimate Red Lobster's presence- there are still over 500 locations across the U.S.

In other words, you can have your cheddar bay biscuits, you might just have to travel a bit to get them if your local Red Lobster is closed.

The hardest-hit state for Red Lobster closures was Florida, however, they still have 40 locations to choose from and still have their headquarters there.

The first Red Lobster opened in Florida in 1968, it then began its spread across the American South, and then the rest of the country, according to the Red Lobster Wiki.

Interestingly, the famous Cheddar Bay Biscuits were a 1990s innovation. Here's a fun look back at those times:

Red Lobster, famous for its "endless" options, has suffered for our gluttony- the 2023 Endless Shrimp promotion cost the company a $11 million loss in one quarter, as they underestimated how much we were willing to gorge ourselves on shellfish.

For a state the size of Texas, our Red Lobsters are now few and far between unless you live in San Antonio, which has 4 locations. In total, we are left with 24 locations.

Lost locations include Amarillo, two Dallas locations, Houston, Lake Jackson, Long View, Lufkin, Victoria, Pasadena, Tyler, and one San Antonio location (again, San Antonionans still have plenty).

Here is every Reb Lobster still open in Texas, so treat these 24 locations with the reverence they deserve (and go easy on the shrimp, okay?).
