Did you try to go to the DMV in Texas this morning? If you're curious why the lights were off and the doors were locked, it's because they are actually doing a system update for their online services and were forced to close Tuesday, September 6th, 2023, and the morning of Wednesday, September 7th, 2023, at the last minute, which gives you time to study a little bit more for your driving test!

According to CBS News Texas, the outage impacts all of the DMV services in Texas, like renewing/replacing your ID card, getting a new driver's record, or even just verifying your eligibility to drive. Every appointment for Tuesday and Wednesday morning was canceled.

TxDPS stated the following:

"The department is working to identify the issue, which is related to the driver license system update that took place over the weekend, and get it fixed as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience."

I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for a way to get out of going to the DMV!

Honestly, it's actually not as bad these days as it used to be. Scheduling your appointment online ahead of time has really been a game changer. My last trip was actually pretty pleasant and took less than 15 minutes. I can't say the same for back when I was a teenager.

Anyway, don't panic! They'll be back online soon and you'll be back in the driver's seat before you know it.
