There's big news to kick off 2025 in Amarillo as far as the City is concerned. It has been announced that the new Amarillo City Hall building is finally ready for its grand opening. A big to-do is planned that is open to the public so you can get a first-hand look.

Amarillo's New City Hall Building Ready For Its Big Debut

The construction on the former Amarillo Hardware building is finally complete, and it is fully transformed into the new City Hall in Amarillo. The building will contain all of the offices that you and I will use most, like Utilities, along with Council Chambers, and even a balcony overlooking Hodgetown and the rest of downtown.

The plan for the facility is that it will serve the city for the next "75 to 100 years."

Grand Opening Of Amarillo's New City Hall Slated For February 2025

The grand opening of the new City Hall will take place on February 25, 2025. It's a Tuesday, so you might need to carve out some space on your calendar to make it. Here are the details:

• Tuesday, February 25, 2025
• 10 AM Ribbon Cutting
• 10 AM - 1 PM Guided Tours
• 3 PM First City Council meeting in the new chambers

The first meeting of the City Council might be interesting to see. Have you ever seen someone sit behind the dash of a new car and try to figure out what all of the buttons do? The Council Chambers are supposed to be state of the art. I imagine there might be a little learning curve involved with some of the new tech.

If you can carve out a little time on that Tuesday, it might be worth it to you to go check out the new City Hall in Amarillo. If nothing else, to go see what the view looks like from the rooftop balcony if you can get to it.
