Mosquitoes have been a hot topic lately in Amarillo, Texas. The recent rains have made it seem like they're taking over.

Today, the City of Amarillo took to social media to finally put the matter to rest. If you're hoping the City will spray your yard, you might be out of luck.

According to the City of Amarillo, the truth is that they will not come spray your yard for you. What they will do is spray public areas and walkways. Your yard is your problem.

Why the City Sprays Public Zones Only

There is a bit of a catch, though. The City does have a system in place that allows you to report mosquito hot spots in town. When people make these reports, the City takes the information and uses it to determine where to spray.

If several people in the same area report it as a mosquito hot spot, the City will develop a strategy and then go spray in that area. They're trying to cut down the most problematic mosquito populations.
