Amarillo's Code Blue Warming Station: A Very Busy 2025

The weather in Amarillo has taken a wintery turn. Snow is in the forecast. For the past several days, temperatures and windchills have dipped below freezing. For those without shelter, the situation is dire. Code Blue Warming Station has taken up its fight against the cold once again, and it's been a very busy 2025 so far.

A Busy Start For The New Year At Code Blue Warming Station

If the Code Blue Warming Station activates tonight, it will be the fourth night in a row. That's four nights of dangerously cold temperatures for those that are unsheltered.

For those that have nowhere to go on these nights, those frigid temps can be dangerous. Code Blue Warming Station provides a place where they can go and escape the brutal code.

What Is Amarillo's Code Blue Warming Station

Code Blue Warming Station is a part of Amarillo Housing First and offers a low-barrier answer to the unforgiving panhandle cold in the winter. It allows those who are unsheltered to stay warm, and they also allow pets.

When the warming station is activated, if you see someone who is out in the cold you can send a text message and they will send out a mobile team to check on that person and offer a ride to an emergency shelter or the warming station. All you do is text "CODEBLUE" to the number 888777.

Amarillo's Code Blue Warming Station Is A Community Effort

To continue helping as many people as possible, the Code Blue Warming Station needs the community's help. Monetary donations are accepted, but there is a specific list of items that they need as well.
