Did You See This Strange Fireball In The Sky Over Texas Saturday Night?

This has been a weird year for strange lights in the night sky. More than once in 2024, social media has been buzzing about fireballs and UFOs in Texas. Over the weekend, we had another instance of strange sights lit up the Texas sky. This time, reports stretched from Kansas down into Texas.

Strange Lights In The Sky On Saturday Night

This past Saturday night, people were shocked when they looked up into the night sky and saw what looked like something falling to Earth. Whatever it was had broken apart, and pieces of it were on fire streaking across the sky. Videos have surfaced online from Kansas all the way to Dallas, Texas.

It wasn't the usual strange light darting across the sky or strange shape hovering in place. It looked like whatever the object was had broken apart. Some of the videos give a pretty clear look at the spectacle.

It's crazy how bright and easy to see it was. Was it a comet or meteor? Could it have been something else entirely?

Who Had Space Debris On Their 2024 Bingo Card?

What almost everyone agrees on is that the fireball seen in the sky on Saturday was actually some space debris. If you aren't familiar with the term, space debris is the stuff that we have sent up into space coming back down. There's actually a lot of it up there. There are around 30,000 pieces of space junk that are currently being monitored.

This particular instance of space junk coming back down to Earth is thought to be one of the Starlink satellites. To be specific, it's thought to be the satellite Starlink-4862. It makes a lot of sense. When Starlink satellites are done, they are simply steered into Earth's atmosphere. As you might expect, this destroys the satellite. It simply burns up and gives us one heck of a show.
