There has been a lot of talk about the weather that's going to hit Amarillo, Texas, later this week. Forecasts have winds possibly gusting up to 70 miles per hour on Friday. The potential for extreme weather and fire risk this week has led Xcel Energy to warn about the potential for power outages in the area.

Xcel Energy has been using PSPS, or Public Safety Power Shutoff, during recent extreme weather and when wildfire danger was high. These shutoffs are used to help mitigate high risks of wildfire. When they are used, they're used in targeted areas.
