How to Join Amarillo’s Fire Academy—Test Dates Just Announced
Many of us had the dream growing up in Amarillo of being a first responder of some sort. Many dreamed of being a police officer, while others fantasized about becoming a paramedic or firefighter.
As we got older, we started to become interested in other things, and some of those dreams died off for us. However, some of us held those dreams, and now we'll get a chance to see if we're fit for the job.

Amarillo College Has A Fire Academy
If you still dream of becoming a firefighter, then you need to check out the AC Fire Academy. Many of the graduates from the program have gone on to work as fire departments here in the Texas Panhandle, and with a lot of success.
However, it's not as simple as just popping online and going through the admissions process. You actually have to test in.

How Can I Test Into The Program
You'd better make sure you've got yourself in shape, because the way you test in is by going through the physical ability test. In order to even be accepted into the program, you have to prove you can make it through that test.
They only do these at certain times of the year, but this is one of those times.
When Are The Physical Ability Tests Going To Be Held At Amarillo College
There are two stages to it. You can go through a practice at 9 a.m. on July 9 and July 12 to see if it's something you're cut out for before you go in for the actual test.
If you know you can make it through, or maybe you've tried it before, the actual tests will take place at 9 a.m. on July 25 and Aug. 2. Both the practice runs as well as actual tests will be held at the First Responders Academy on Plains Boulevard.
