Amarillo Library Launches America 250 Documentary Series

You've probably realized at this point that our country is turning 250 years old. There have been a lot of national things planned to celebrate it, but what about here in Amarillo? I haven't really heard of a whole lot of different events to be able to attend.

I'm not talking about big blowouts or anything like that, just something that we can attend to celebrate a bit. Maybe July 4th is going to have some of the most epic fireworks shows we've seen in recent memory, and we're just going to be surprised by it.

Amarillo Downtown Library To Air Documentary

Well, I guess while we wait for that to potentially happen, we need something to bridge the gap. This will most certainly do it. Starting tonight, the Amarillo Downtown Library will begin a documentary series that will delve all the way through the history of the United States.

The documentary will be a bit of a deep dive, more focused on the American Revolution, and it all kicks off tonight, May 19, with a screening of "Liberty of Death". The documentary specifically focuses on the Second Virginia Convention. The viewing begins at 5 pm tonight.

The Documentary Airings Continue

This won't be the only documentary they'll be airing in celebration of 250. On May 21, they'll begin airing the Ken Burns docuseries "The American Revolution". This will be split up over 12 days to cover all six parts of the series.

On July 2nd, the library will host a "Happy 250th Birthday America" celebration, complete with cake and a patriotic sing-along.
