All the rage in Amarillo for the last month has been Long John Silver's, and understandably so. When they opened the doors, I personally anticipated there would be a line there for two weeks, then things would begin to mellow out.

Well, I was wrong. Here we are, nearly a month after its opening, and the lines are still stretching down Bell St. It's extremely tough to park in their actual parking lot, and that's if you can even get in there to park. Good luck trying to get out.

Drive-Thru Or Dine In

That seems to be the biggest question right now. Do you just stick it out in line and wait, or do you park somewhere else and make the walk? Well, I finally took the plunge with the family yesterday to try it out.

We ended up opting for finding a parking spot somewhere and walking over. We have three kids, and I promise you our three-year-old would've lost her mind sitting in the car that long. When we walked in, the line was at least 15 people deep.

The Ordering Hack You Need To Know About

We found our spot at the back of the line and began our patient wait. An employee came out and asked everyone to shift the line to a different part of the store, which we all gladly did. That's when it appeared, the most glorious hack of LJS.

They had one of those self-order kiosks. It was pretty hidden, but it was there, and you wouldn't have ever seen it with where the line was. I glanced at it and thought to myself, I wonder if this works.

The Perfect Ending

I walked up to it, touched the screen, and put together a full order. Checkout is where I was concerned, because the payment terminal wasn't lit up initially. I was worried it didn't work. Well, that thing lit up the second I clicked on the checkout button, and I gladly paid for my order.

I went to the table where my family was waiting, and I almost felt guilty for essentially cutting the line, but hey, it was there. Within five minutes, my name was being called. I walked up, grabbed my order, and took it back to my table. The rest of the line? It had barely moved. There were still eight people waiting to order in relation to where I was in line.

So if you want your LJS quickly, utilize the self-order kiosks. No wait, no line, just those glorious crunchies in 5-10 minutes while everyone else watches you skip both lines.
