With the number of restaurants we have here in Amarillo, it can be difficult to choose where to sit down and have a bite.

Even after you've settled on the cuisine you're feeling, it can take you a good 30 minutes to decide where to end up.

I wouldn't say that's a bad problem to have, but it can be a bit frustrating. Some cuisines are easier to decide on, but one of the toughest ones to figure out is seafood. My oldest son is a huge seafood fan, and he can be a bit picky.

So, how do we decide where to go and get some good seafood in town? Let's just say Google became our friend, and after doing a little searching, we found the top five places to get some seafood in Amarillo.

Here are the top five places to sit down and whet your appetite with some solid seafood, according to Yelp!

#5: Scott's Oyster Bar

A very unassuming place located at 4150 Paramount, you'd never guess that Scott's Oyster Bar would be a spot to get killer oysters when you look at the outside of it. It looks like a shack you'd find in the middle of a desolate city, and I don't mean that in a bad way. The look and ambience inside is amazing.

Like they say, you should never judge a book by its cover. Yelp users give it 4+ stars thanks to its simple but delectable menu, and the pricing is on point, which is important because seafood is expensive in the first place.

#4: Drunken Oyster

Here's one that pretty much everyone in Amarillo has heard of. Located at 7606 SW 45th Ave, Drunken Oyster seems to be a place many bring up when asked where to go for seafood. Familiarity is a key thing when it comes to that, but the Yelp rating backs up all the recommendations.

A fancy-looking place outside, the food inside matches its look. With a relatively large menu, you can get everything from a seafood boil to their delectable Lobster Mac. There is truly something on the menu for everyone, and you won't be disappointed, as evidenced by the four stars Yelp users give it.

#3: FatCat Fish & Grill

Going back to the "you may have never heard of this place" category, FatCat Fish & Grill sits very unassumingly at 1309 Dumas Dr.

It's not a fancy seafood place, which is fine by me. They serve up some of the best fried catfish in the city, and their hushpuppies are to die for. If it's something simple and down-home you're looking for, FatCat is the place to be.

#2: Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar

Here's the newest entry to Amarillo when it comes to seafood, but it's quickly made a name for itself. Found inside the shopping center at 45th & Bell, Hook & Reel is becoming a go-to in the city, and quickly.

Loaded with pretty much everything you can think of from a seafood standpoint, and the perfect Cajun spin on their food, it's a perfect spot for someone like me who loves a little kick in their seafood. Not to mention, you get very solid portions when you order. The mini boil they offer is not as mini as it would seem.

#1: Crackin' Crab

Nestled away at 3350 S Soncy Rd, we land on the number one rated seafood restaurant in Amarillo. Crackin' Crab is always automatically mentioned when someone asks about seafood in Amarillo. A large menu and large portion sizes drive this restaurant to the top of the list.

Add in the upbeat music and lively atmosphere, Crackin' Crab isn't your typical stuffy seafood restaurant. The food is to die for, and everyone agrees, considering they have a second location at 2207 S. Western St now.
