The Viva los Muertos festival in Amarillo is back for its second year in the Texas Panhandle. The event will take place at 714 N. Fillmore St. and it'll be free to the public to attend. It'll be full of local artists, live music and a whole lot more.

There will also be lots of prizes up for grabs, traditional altars where you can honor loved ones, and the popular Catrina Costume Contest where prizes will be given away for the best adult and children's costumes.

The event happens Saturday, Nov. 2 from 11:30 am to 3 pm.

If you don't get your fill by the end of that event, hop on over to Sam Houston Park where there will be a celebration starting at 6 pm. That event will have a host of food trucks, performances, many vendors, face painting, and yes, another Catrina/Catrino costume contest for you to participate in.

If you attend the Sam Houston Park event, guests are also being asked to bring a disposable photo of their loved ones who have passed to place on the altar they will have there to honor those people we've lost.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
