It was just about three weeks ago when Texans were in an outrage over an early morning alert that popped up on their phone, awakening many from their deep slumber. It was a "blue alert" which means that an officer had been shot and the suspect was at large.

The wild thing about it was that it seemed more people were concerned about being woken up by the alert than they were about what had actually happened.

So as a refresher, here's what happened to cause the alert. Memphis Police Chief Rex Plant had been allegedly shot by Seth Altman as he was attempting to serve a burglary warrant at Altman's home.

Altman fled the scene and that's when the Blue Alert was issued. Altman quickly became one of Texas' Top 10 Most Wanted as police began their extensive search for him.

On October 25th, they found their man.

Altman was taken into custody in Tarrant County, Fort Worth to be exact and promptly charged with Capital murder of a peace officer or fireman.

He was tracked down and apprehended near 1300 Lancaster Ave. and was taken into custody without incident, bringing to end one of the more exhaustive manhunts in recent memory here in Texas. He was then transported to the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office where he remains in custody.

The Fort Worth Police Department released a statement once he was arrested:

“This successful operation underscores the commitment of Texas law enforcement to pursue and apprehend fugitives who pose a threat to public safety. The Fort Worth Police Department remains dedicated to ensuring community safety and will continue to collaborate with state and local partners to deliver justice.”

There is no word yet on when a potential trial may happen.

What Is A Day Like In Texas Prisons? A View From Both Sides Of The Bars

Have you ever wondered what life inside a Texas prison is really like? I asked friends who are correction officers and folks who have volunteered at jails. I also asked former inmates, and browsed forums and articles with current and former inmates. Put all together, it paints what I hope is a fairly accurate picture of daily prison life in Texas.
