Snow On Thanksgiving In Amarillo? Looks Like It’s Possible.

As you may have noticed, the last couple of days have been extremely chilly in Amarillo. It's like we basically skipped fall and went straight to winter. Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing as we all hope for a white Christmas right?

However, I didn't think about having a white Thanksgiving potentially. See, I typically grill our turkey for Thanksgiving, and the last thing I want to see is that white, fluffy (or slushy) stuff on the ground that morning.

It's starting to look like there is a very good possibility that could happen, and I'm not looking forward to it.

Now, one thing we already knew was that Thanksgiving was going to be a cold one. Temps were supposed to be floating in the 40s all day long, so that wasn't a surprise to hear. However, there's more to it now.

Starting mid-evening on Wednesday, we're going to see some rain roll into the Amarillo area. As the temperatures get chillier, we're going to see that rain turn to snow overnight.

Travel could become a bit of an issue if you're driving overnight as the winds could potentially blow the snow around and make visibility a bit tough.

The snow however is not expected to last into the morning for Thanksgiving, and it won't accumulate more than an inch, so if you wanna see it, you'll have to drag out of bed relatively early. Temps are now expected to be in the low to mid-50s for the big day.
