Amarillo has a great history of sports teams. We've been known for our hockey, baseball, and yes, even football teams. While many teams have come and gone over the years, we are still lucky to have great teams play.

Unfortunately, a door has closed on another Amarillo sports team. Although the writing was on the wall, it was only a matter of time before it officially ended. The Amarillo Dusters are officially done with Amarillo.

  • 2012–2014 – Venom joins LSFL, wins back-to-back championships under local ownership Stephanie and Toby Tucker

  • 2021–2022 – League instability leads to the Lone Star Series, AFA, and the team being put up for sale
  • 2024 – Venom returns briefly in American Indoor Football under new ownership
  • 2024–2025 – Franchise reclaims the Dusters name, joins the NAL, then folds after league disputes

When Amarillo found out it was getting its own indoor football league, most were excited about the idea of having a football team in Amarillo. Why the Dusters Became the Bayou Bucks

On Saturday, January 24, it was announced that the Amarillo Dusters had been sold and were being moved to Louisiana. The new team is now the Bayou Bucks.

A new ownership group has taken over the Amarillo Dusters. The team is relocating to South Louisiana and will be rebranded as the Bayou Bucks. We offered many thanks to the Amarillo fans and sponsors for their support. The Bayou Bucks will begin competing in the 2027 season.

Although this might feel like a blow to Amarillo sports, it isn’t. Even though the Dusters are gone, arena football in the city isn’t over. We have a new team, new players, and new fun.
