Amarillo Fire Department Responds Swiftly to Possible Fire at Townsquare Media
Townsquare Media is home to all your favorite Amarillo radio stations: 101.9 The Bull, Mix 94.1, 96.9 KISS FM, 98.7 The Bomb, and NewsTalk940. It was a typical workday. Some of us were in our offices, while others were in the studios creating on-air content and playing music.
Then the Smoke Detectors All Went Off
We all ventured out of our offices and studios to the high pitched beeps of the smoke alarms trying to find out where the source of the screeching was coming from. Luckily there was no visible smoke, maybe a slight haze.
Who turned on the heater?
We checked all the thermostats and none of the heaters were on.
Call the fire department.
The call was made!
Okay, it's time to exit the building now. So here we all are, grabbing our keys, laptops, bags, and purses, and exiting the building.
When 3 fire trucks and an ambulance arrived in the parking lot, all our amazing AFD firefighters started entering the building. It took them about 10 minutes to conduct a thorough walk-through and ensure no danger.

What caused the smoke detectors to go off?
A blower motor in one of our HVAC units had seized and started smoking. Luckily it wasn't anything serious and no one was hurt and no damage was done to the building or the equipment that keeps your favorite radio stations on the air.
To the Amarillo Fire Department.
Thank you for your prompt response and for ensuring that there was no fire in the building, either in the ceiling or in the basement.
You Were Awesome!
