Amarillo Food Scene Grows With Mu Lan Asian Fusion

Amarillo is a fast-growing city. Over the last year, the area around 45th and Bell has seen quite a bit of growth when it comes to places to eat.

QDOBA opened its doors in March 2025, followed by one of Amarillo’s most anticipated restaurant openings of the year. Long John Silver’s opened just around the corner from QDOBA on August 1, 2025.

The Curious Loft Closure and the Building’s Reputation

At the end of 2024, Amarillo saw a quaint furniture store, The Curious Loft, close its doors due to the owners' relocation. The closing of this store left the building empty once again, adding to the curse of the location.

However, the curse may finally end, as a new restaurant is getting ready to move into the building. Details are limited on when the restaurant will open. Here's what we do know: Amarillo's food scene is about to get spicier.

All About Mu Lan Coming to Amarillo

A new Asian fusion and sushi restaurant is opening in this location. According to the banner on the outside of the building, the restaurant will be called Mu Lan.

Who Owns the Space and Local Ties

According to PRAD.org, White Stone, LLC owns the building, and further digging shows the owner is based in Midland and also owns Sushi Nami in Lubbock, Texas.

Why Mu Lan Could Succeed in This Amarillo Spot

With outstanding reviews for Sushi Nami, Mu Lan looks poised to be a win for Amarillo. Hopefully, Mu Lan will break the curse of this building.

Another cursed building has popped up in Amarillo. This one was built to house a video rental store, and after that closed it has had multiple businesses call it home.
