Freshly Glazed Details: Popular Texas Donut Shop Reveals Amarillo Location

As we venture into a new year, we have new business to look forward to in Amarillo.  For the longest time we had Buc-ee's to look forward to opening in the Yellow City.  Now we have another popular Texas-born business moving into Amarillo.

Now we have a location where Shipley Do-nuts is opening!

Shipley's has been a Texas staple since 1936.  It was opened in Houston after their famous recipe created by Lawrence Shipley Sr.  He handmade and cut his donuts and sold them for only .05 cents per dozen.

Now nearly 90 years later it will be opening up in Amarillo.

According to the licensing department, the new location will be 2808 SW 34th Ave. The Shipley Do-nuts location will be near Georgia Street in the same strip as Golden Chick.

We reached out to Shipley Do-Nut for a comment but did not receive a response by the time of publication. The construction completion date is listed as April 2025, so a May opening is possible—but that remains speculation.

Amarillo has several donut locations to choose from, however, this donut location is popular all over Texas and the country.  Shipley has over 60 varieties of donuts and special flavors during the different holidays and seasons.  Not only do they serve up delicious donuts, they have a variety of kolaches as well.
