You paid your dues all year in Texas and now it’s time for some payback. The IRS has announced January 29 will be the start of the tax season. According to NBC News, it is expected that more than 128.7 million tax returns will be filed by the deadline which is April 15. Texans get excited about tax time because the reality is, that we get some money back, and who doesn’t want the extra amount of money?

No one wants to be a victim of an audit, which just means that changes and errors have been made to your taxes. You may have to pay the additional taxes by the duvet, but you shouldn’t worry about any civil penalties, if there significant error is suspected you could face certain penalties. Commissioner Danny Werfel released a statement, saying "IRS employees are working hard to make sure that new funding is used to help taxpayers by making progress in preparing and filing taxes, a lot easier."

Texans will be able to file online directly to the IRS,  now with a new electronic direct pilot. The IRS also says to use this new particular system keep in mind that the option will be rolled out little by little, but expect the system to be completely available by mid-March. Texan should expect most of the refunds to be issued less than 21 days from your actual time of filing. Keep in mind if you have additional information that is needed you would need to contact IRS directly.
