Nikki Sixx Slams KISS For Stealing From Motley Crue’s Tour Finale
If you attended Motley Crue's farewell tour and have already seen KISS on their "The End of the Road" farewell trek, you may have noticed some similarities in the show. Nikki Sixx did, at least, and he's not bashful about pointing it out.
For those who haven't looked at KISS' setlist for the trek or footage from it and want to keep it that way, you've been warned: there's spoilers ahead.
KISS have been finishing their show with "Rock and Roll All Nite" as giant balloons rain down upon the crowd, confetti spews everywhere and massive lighting tresses reach out to the stage, capped with a platform to stand in. This arm then swoops over the crowd... and it's pretty much exactly how Crue ended their show with "Kickstart My Heart" (video below) before their one-song encore of "Home Sweet Home."
"Wow. Our body wasn’t even cold before they took this exact grande finale from our tour," Sixx tweeted while sharing a side-by-side photo, adding, "Might not matter to Kiss fans but it does to Crue fans. I dug their music when I was a little kid and it was cool to Co-Headline together a few years but this disappoints me. Anyway."
Since KISS began their final run on January 31, some fans have argued that the band has been using backing tracks live, something Gene Simmons had historically been opposed to. Sixx recently defended Crue's use of backing tapes, but took aim when he said, "Certain band out on the road right now putting other bands DOWN and saying that they are a REAL rock band, no background singers and other old people cranky comments except his lead vocals are on tape. People in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks."
As the release of The Dirt draws near, Motley Crue are expected to release new music to coincide with the film. Earlier this month, Sixx confirmed that one of the new tracks will feature rapper Machine Gun Kelly.
Meanwhile, KISS' tour continues and you can see more North American stops here.
