New Restaurant Sam’s Southern Eatery Opens Next Week In Amarillo

If you needed something positive to think about today, there is a new restaurant opening up in town this month. Sam's Southern Eatery will open its doors on August 11.

Today was the first time I had heard about Sam's. A friend of mine sent a link to their Facebook page to me.

I assume because they know how much I love good gumbo.

The restaurant is located on Teckla Blvd. As the name suggests, they are offering up several "southern" staples.

They do have gumbo, as I mentioned. They also have a lot of variety when it comes to "types" of chicken you can order. They have Buffalo wings, strips, livers, and gizzards.

They also have the seafood staples you would expect. There's fried fish, shrimp, crawfish, oysters, and crab cakes.

I love a good crab cake.

Of particular interest to me is the fried green tomatoes. It's been a long time since I've had home style fried green tomatoes, and I hope these match up.

They also have po' boys of every variety available. Crawfish and po' boys; I might have found a new favorite spot.

I know, I can already hear some of the moans and groans about yet another Cajun joint in town, but if I'm being honest, there's no such thing as too much Cajun food.

It's nice to see new restaurants and businesses continuing to open up in spite of everything going on in the world today. I wish them all luck, and hope they all find success in 2020.
