I'm not anti-Christmas. I enjoy several aspects of the holiday. What does "grind my gears" is when we start talking about the "most wonderful time of the year" three months before it gets here.

Stores start gearing up the holidays before Halloween. Usually we start seeing other events start popping up in November. This year, we're already seeing Christmas light tours being advertised in Amarillo.

My wife sent a link to me from her Facebook newsfeed the other day. A local limo company is already taking reservations for a guided Christmas light tour of Amarillo.

Before you get too excited, know that it does come at a cost. This tour is definitely something you'd want to get your family together for. That might include the in-laws. It also might include having everyone pitch-in to cover the cost.

To rent their hummer for the tour, the cost comes out to $200 during the week. Friday and Saturday, that cost goes up to $240. The hummer has enough space for 14 to 16 people.

If you want to book their bus, you'll get set back $225 Sunday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday, the cost goes up to $250. The bus has space for 14 to 16 people as well.

I haven't even seen any houses decorated yet; not including those people that leave their lights up all year long. I'm not really sure what the route will be. They do advertise some neighborhoods including Greenways, Colonies, and Wolflin.

If you can handle being stuck in a vehicle with several members of your family, this might be something worth looking at.
