Summer's here, the temperature's going straight up and area pools could be filling up with more than just swimmers.

Summer is here and that means swimming!  Amarillo Parks and Recreation is making sure that everyone has a good time so they are inviting you out to celebrate with Sammy the Seal.

Swimmers are well aware of the dangers of drowning, but many of us aren't as familiar with secondary drowning and dry drowning. Here's what to look out for.

Much of the nation is in the grips of a cold spell the likes of which make us long for summer.

For the first time in history, a swimmer has endured the 103-mile route from Havana, Cuba to Key West, Florida, without the assistance of a shark cage. That swimmer, 64-year-old Diana Nyad, began her quest on Saturday, August 31, and finished around 53 hours later on Labor Day.

Ahh, summer. 'Tis the season of watermelon art, diving fails and-- you guessed it-- belly flops. When we were kids, this pool move was awesome. But nowadays... who are we kidding? It's still (painfully) awesome!

Wow. Just wow. That's what you'll be saying after watching this ridonkulous multi-person, multi-pass alley-oop. This little stunt involves more precision than a Seiko and surely must have been rehearsed so many times, these guys must have had skin shriveled up like a raisin...

Along Africa's great Zambezi River, right on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, there is a waterfall called Victoria Falls. And at certain times of year, when the water level is just right, you can go swimming right at the very edge—looking down 100 meters into the gorge below.

They are two types of belly flops — The first comes courtesy of a daredevil with a masochistic streak who deliberately falls into the water gut first. The second happens when somebody just isn’t very good at diving into a pool.
