The City of Canyon just got a whole Lot safer

So the City of Canyon is feeling a little safer today after two arrests were made within four days of each other.

The First Arrest

The first arrest was made on October 14th by the U.S Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force. The arrest was on 30 year old Cory Lee Reed who went on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list on September 22nd 2021 after he failed to register as a sex offender. Reed was convicted in 2010 of 2 counts of sexual assault on a 14 year old girl and sentenced to 10 years probation. In 2011 after failure to register as a sex offender he got 5 more years of probation. Then finally in 2012 Reed probation was revoked and he was sentenced to 8 years in prison and was released on parole in 2019.

The Second Arrest

The second arrest was made on October 18th after a series of burglaries. According to officials the Canyon police have received 6 reports of vehicle burglaries, 3 stolen vehicles, 2 residential burglaries, 1 storage shed burglary and 2 additional thefts of property since late September. According to the release on October 18th officers were able to locate stolen property at a rural Randall county home and a vacant field inside Canyon. Officers located and brought the suspect in for questioning after a brief foot chase. The release says that the property was recovered and is linked to the 14 reported cases as well as multiple unreported cases. Police are still looking for a white 2007 Dodge Ram quad cab pickup with the Texas Tag DFP3048.
