Tom DeLonge Reveals Massive Release Plans, Role in Blink-182 Blowup
Tom DeLonge may not be having just the busiest year of his career, but possibly the busiest of anyone's career. The estranged Blink-182 vocalist revealed in a series of tweets and Instagram posts exactly what's keeping him so occupied in 2015.
Earlier this week, DeLonge tweeted, "I am putting out 4 albums in one year -- this year." He later added, "To clarify, 2 albums with Angels [and Airwaves], 2 albums from myself. 3 of them are released with novels. This has been in the works for a couple of years."
As has been reported, part of the issues between DeLonge and his Blink-182 bandmates has been his availability. When he backed out of an appearance with the band at the MusInk festival, that started the ball rolling on the public discord with the group revealing that had secured Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba to fill in for DeLonge and that the vocalist did not want to participate in any Blink-182 projects indefinitely. DeLonge followed by stating he never quit the band, but added that outside commitments did limit his availability this year.
In a new Instagram post, DeLonge delves a little deeper on his 2015 happenings. He states:
One of the reasons all this Blink stuff went haywire was because I am in 6 contracts with Best Selling Authors that are co-writing 15 Novels with me personally. Each one has an EP soundtrack that launches with it. I told my manager the contract that was sent to me for the Blink deal contained weird new language that I had to drop all that music for almost a year. I said I couldn't, but I could record the album in and around those things that were already in the works. He wrote them an email saying I'm out- (I didn't know- and he was only talking about the deal) next thing you know, a press release saying things I didn't say. Here we are..... Well.... Read a f--king book- at least one of mine, please. Christ.
So there you have it. DeLonge has committed himself to a wealth of projects for 2015, and he's still in the process of completing them. A recent tweet from DeLonge suggests, "I have the fastest punk song I've written in 15 years on my new album. … I hope it makes you destroy stuff."
That new album is titled To the Stars and is now en route for an April 20 release. A track listing has now surfaced and can be viewed below. It's available for pre-order at this location.
