Tommy Lee Has Finished Recording Another Solo Album
"Hey kids!" he tweeted. "Finally ...my new record is done and getting mastered now ..... lookin like a March release! Y’all gonna LOVE this! Been working on this for 2 years! Making sure everything is amazing for you! This is gonna be a flip! 2 sides 2 genres I’ll explain more later"
Lee's last effort credited entirely to him was 2005's Tommyland: The Ride, although he put out A Public Disservice Announcement with his Methods of Mayhem rap-rock side project in 2010, and he and the Methods of Mayhem's DJ Aero released #MSND in 2013.
More recently, Lee regrouped with Motley Crue to record four songs for the soundtrack to The Dirt, the film adaptation of their memoir that premiered on Netflix in in March, three originals -- the title track, "Ride With the Devil" and "Crash and Burn" -- and a cover of Madonna's "Like a Virgin." Prior to that, the only work they'd put out since 2008's Saints of Los Angeles was "All Bad Things," a single used to promote the last leg of their farewell tour.
In the film, Lee was played by rapper-actor Machine Gun Kelly, who said that working on the movie gave him an understanding of what has made the drummer such a fascinating figure.
"Tommy is like the puppy dog of the group," he said. "He makes mistakes, but you kind of love him more when he’s making mistakes."
