Weekly Rewind: Brian Johnson, David Bowie + More

The biggest classic rock stories of the week find us celebrating the 40th anniversary of the release of David Bowie’s ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars’ with a special contest and an exclusive (and entertaining) interview with AC/DC’s Brian Johnson.

Unfortunately, we lost another rock great, as Bob Welch, former guitarist for Fleetwood Mac, took his own life following spinal surgery that would have required constant care from his wife. On the other side of the equation, we marveled at how Tony Iommi recorded was able to record guitar parts while receiving chemotherapy for lymphoma.

However, there was plenty of news to smile about. Ringo Starr’s boyhood home was spared the bulldozer. We laughed (and cringed) as a group of nudists played at Kiss’ mini golf course in Las Vegas, and we grabbed the popcorn as we read the latest round of bad words between Sammy Hagar and Eddie Van Halen.
