There are projects in Amarillo that move fast. Some move super fast. It all depends on the priority I guess. The potential damage that can be caused. Even the location of the project.

When there is a highly traveled road that may have a play into it. Late last week and into the weekend there was a major pothole that made an appearance on Georgia Street. It happened to be right in front of Amarillo National Bank.

Did that play into how fast it was going to be fixed? Maybe. Or maybe it was just because of how big the recent pothole got and how much damage it could cause. There was a major pothole on Georgia and I have never seen a project updated so fast.

As I was driving around Amarillo on Monday around lunchtime they had newly added orange cones. Those cones kept our cars from hitting that pothole. There was also a sign warning us that the right lane was going to be closed off with these cones.

OK, that was a good start. No more cars hitting that massive pothole. Then the next time I was near the area and this was after 5 pm, the cones were still there but there was added work being done.

Yes, the pothole was actively being worked on. The pothole was being filled. I knew that it getting fixed would end up with a lane closure. I knew that would cause an inconvenience, especially with five o'clock traffic. I just didn't know it would be worked on as swiftly as it was.

Trust me, I appreciate it and anyone who makes that travel on Georgia Street will appreciate it. Whether they experienced that huge pothole or not it was going to cause some damage if not fixed sooner. I am so glad it was a priority.
