There are a few things happening all month long that we don't want you to forget about. It is the perfect time to bring home a new furry family member at half off. Get by Amarillo Animal Management at 3501 S Osage and help Clear the Shelter. They are open Saturday from 10 am - 6 pm.

When hunger strikes, head over to Malcolm's at 2100 Paramount Blvd. to take advantage of their half-off kids' meals promotion. This special is going on through the end of the month, and they even get to finish their meal with a scoop of ice cream.

  • Helium Heights Back-To-School Bash: The Back-To-School Bash will be loaded with vendors to help get your family ready to head back to class. Get ready to shop from 4 pm - 8 pm at 10001 W. Amarillo Blvd.

Saturday, August 15

  • Burger Bash: The inaugural competition to find out who makes the best burgers in the Panhandle. All money raised will benefit Elks Lodge 923, 932 Clyde Street. You can even choose to add swimming to your afternoon for an added charge. The event is from 1 pm - 6 pm.
  • Helium Heights Back-To-School Bash: The second and final day of the bash is happening from 9 am - 2 pm at 10001 W. Amarillo Blvd.
  • Hometown Heroes Hangout: Head out to Bubba's 33, 2813 I40 from 11 am - 2 pm and hang out with our First Responders. They will have police, fire, and SWAT vehicles on-site.
  • Discovery Center's Pink Floyd Laser Light Show: The Discovery Center will be staying open a bit later for this laser show in the Space Theater. The showing will be at 4:30 pm and 6 pm and is included in the regular admission price.

Sunday, August 16

  • Amarillo Magic Company Sunday Funday: Looking for some family fun time to wind down the weekend? Amarillo Magic Company, 5208 S Western #300, has it for you. They host their Sunday Fundays on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 2 pm.

Just because the kids are heading back to the classroom doesn't mean summer magic is entirely gone; there is still plenty of weekend sunshine left to enjoy.
