Amarillo City Hall Evacuated Wednesday
Yesterday Amarillo City Hall was evacuated for a short time.
The city’s water department was working near city hall at 6th & Johnson when they inadvertently struck and punctured a two-inch gas line. The Amarillo Fire Department was called to the scene around 1pm.
The Amarillo Police Department along with the Amarillo Fire Department set up a safety perimeter around the area. This required the evacuation of city hall.
Atmos was called to the scene and was able to plug the leak without further incident.
No injuries were reported.
