Dasher Diary: What Amarillo Delivery Drivers Are Most Thankful for This Holiday Season
As we are fast approaching the holiday season in Amarillo, this is the time when a lot of us sit back and reflect. We come up with a list of things that we are thankful for. We like to have a list full of blessings in our lives.
Why Delivery Drivers Are Feeling Thankful This Holiday Season
We think about our family and our health. We might have welcomed new family members into our group. We may have started a new job that we love. Maybe we are thankful because we moved into a new place or got to see a remodeling project through.
I'm sure, as you think about it, there are plenty of things to add to the list.
The Small Things That Make Amarillo Deliveries Easier
As a delivery driver, there are things that we are thankful for and things that we are hopeful will be added to every day that we are out trying to make money. We are thankful to find our way up and down the streets of Amarillo. We are thankful when our delivery brings us to streets that are NOT under construction of any kind. We love not seeing orange cones on our journey.
Why Clear Instructions Matter More Than You Think
We are thankful when we accept an order that the information is clearly laid out for us. We love to see that the restaurant is close and the drop-off isn't a long drive. We love to see that the instructions clearly tell us where we are going. If it's a house, we love seeing the number clearly displayed. We love seeing that there is a place to park in front of the house. It's also nice to see the pets are put up, and we are not going to be attacked by Fido.
If we are delivering to a hotel, apartment, or business, we are thankful that the name of each is clearly listed in the delivery. This way, we are not hunting for a suite number or a building. We are thankful that we can get your food to you as quickly as possible.
We are thankful to the customers who tip. We appreciate knowing that we are not wasting our time trying to make extra money. We appreciate it when a customer gets that we are using our car, our gas, and our time, and not making you get out to get your own food. We appreciate customers who get that if we have to drive far to drop off your food, then we are saving you a lot of time and mileage, and that is hopefully reflected in the tip.
How Weather Plays a Huge Role for Drivers
We are thankful for the good days. The days when the weather is cooperating and the wind is not blowing our car door shut. We are thankful for the days when the rain is not pouring down and flooding our streets. We are thankful for the days when we can get out of our driveways, and the snow is allowing us to get out and make some money.

We are thankful when the restaurants have our food ready when we get there. We don't mind the wait, but hope it's not a long one. There are a lot of things to be thankful for this holiday season as delivery drivers.
Why Tipping Makes the Biggest Difference
We just hope we can count on our customers to be thankful for us bringing you the items you need without making you deal with stores, restaurants, long drives, waits, and construction. We hope that you are thankful in the best way possible by letting it reflect in our tip.
A Holiday Reminder for Amarillo Customers
And in a city like Amarillo, where kindness is as much a tradition as the holidays themselves, the smallest gesture can make a delivery driver’s season a whole lot brighter.
