I think we can officially name 2019 the year of "local restaurants closing" here in Amarillo.

It seems like there is a new story every week! The latest name to add to the list is Gerb's Wurst Bar. Gerbs has been a local favorite for the last five years. They are located on the south side of Amarillo on Bell and Ardan.

After acquiring the old Long John Silvers building, the owners quickly turned the once fast-food joint into a bar people wanted to come and stay awhile. Locals would come every weekend and stay for hours at a time. But in the end, the regulars just weren't enough.

But hey, the funs not over yet! In true Gurb's style, they are going out with a bang. You are invited to come to the "Last Hoorah!" party on Saturday, August 17th, from 5 pm - 1 am.

Bring your lawn chairs and get ready for a good time. There will be food, live music and of course DRINKS! Cover charge will be $10 at the door, and the bar will be cash only.

The owners invite you to have fun and share your favorite memories at their closing party.

The owners said on their Facebook:

We look forward to celebrating with all of the wonderful friends we have made throughout this exciting journey!

If you have a favorite memory at Gerbs Wurst Bar, you are asked to share during the event!
