The Amarillo Police Department are asking for the public's help as they investigate how an APD officer was attacked with a firework on the Fourth of July. The incident took place on Saturday night in the area of Hamlet Park, on Amarillo's north side. APD officers were dispatched to the area of Hamlet Park on a large group of people, some believed to be juveniles, shooting off fireworks.

When the first officer arrived, a mortar shell was shot through his open driver side window.
