Graduation in the Texas Panhandle is an exciting time of life. The future is ahead of you, and it's up to you to get it going. Whether the graduation is from high school or college, the next step can be exciting.

You want everyone to know about this big time in your life. A lot of families send out graduation announcements. They mail them out to family and friends. Sometimes, as the trend has been, they get sent out to famous and important people just to see if they get a response.

It's a great story if you get a card from the president or even an actor from your favorite movie. Those are the stories you can tell for years to come. Recently, a soon-to-be Canyon graduate had a funny story to tell about her upcoming graduation.

Canyon Senior, Danica Powers, was sending out her upcoming graduation announcement and wanted to send one to the Texas Rangers baseball team. With hopes that she would get something back. Maybe they would send her a schedule, a jersey, or something.

Instead, what she received was even better, according to her mom, Kim's recent social media post:

As we were sending out graduation invites, we sent one to the Texas Rangers MLB team in hopes of a response only to find out we accidentally sent the invitation to the Texas Rangers Law Enforcement headquarters in Waco Tx!

They accidentally sent the invite to the Texas Rangers law enforcement agency in Waco instead of the baseball team in Arlington. The agency had a fun time responding back to the upcoming Canyon graduate.

Well, Lt Brent Barina did not disappoint and responded in an EPIC way! This will be a memory that will stay with us forever! He had my daughter and I laughing so hard.

The card back and the goodies were a great touch to this graduation story. Even if it wasn't the intended baseball team, these memories will definitely leave a lasting impression.

We reached out to Lt. Brent Barina to find out if this is an unusual occurrence. We wanted to know if he was surprised to get this invitation in the mail:

I was not surprised; we get a lot of graduation and wedding invitations sent to our office by mistake. It has become the source of a lot of fun in our office.  We really love the invitations that are filled with confetti and glitter, those force us to vacuum the office from time to time.  I enjoy sending the humorous cards to different people and couples, informing them of their mistake.

Just know that someday, they are going to actually show up at an invited event:

One day, we are going to surprise someone and have all 180 Texas Rangers show up for a wedding or graduation.  I may have to start buying Texas Rangers mini baseballs and bats instead of challenge coins and patches; I think I would give more of the bats and balls away.

So send out those invitations even if they end up going to the wrong place. Those are the stories that will be remembered forever. Lt. Barina and the Texas Rangers have this message for the class of 2025:

Congratulations to the Canyon High School graduating class of 2025!  For those who got excited when they heard the Texas Rangers were invited-sorry to disappoint, it’s the law enforcement, not the baseball team.  Here’s to your future, go knock it out of the park (metaphorically speaking, of course)!
