How Much Snow Will Fall In Amarillo

The good news is that it doesn't seem like there will be much. Less than half of an inch is expected in most of the area tonight (1/19) into tomorrow (1/20) morning.

The thing you will want to watch out for is slick spots on the road Thursday morning as you're heading in to work.

I know that I get nervous any time snow starts coming up in the forecast. It usually comes with ice, and traveling is rough. Especially when you live out in the middle of nowhere like I do.

How To Prepare For The Winter Weather In Amarillo

No, the snow isn't supposed to be anything near apocalyptic in nature. However, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't prepare for the colder weather.

You need to make sure you've got your vehicle ready for the cold. There are a few things you can do to help make sure you don't run into problems.

  • Make sure your tires are aired up.
  • Keep your fuel tank at half full at least.
  • Check your fluids and make sure they're topped off.
  • Get a "winter-kit" for your car. Bottled water, blankets, and small snacks just in case you were to be stranded.

Will Amarillo See Another Massive Snow Storm?

Forecasters are back and forth on whether or not we're going to see another massive winter storm like we did last year. Some are actually calling for a milder winter, while others are saying it's going to be like last year if not worse.

Either way, it's never a bad idea to be prepared.
