Crackin’ Crab on Soncy Locked Out — Here’s What We Know

We've seen so many different restaurants close in Amarillo this year; it's kind of sad and scary at the same time. Places that have been open for a long time, have a rich history, or places that just never gained the traction.

Other reasons we've seen restaurants close are due to code violations or being locked out of their location. Sadly, it happened again yesterday.

Crackin' Crab on Soncy Closed

Yesterday, August 25, several people decided to go out for dinner and went to a popular location to do so. When they got there, they were met with an unwelcome sign on the door that meant they were going to have to find somewhere else to eat.

The Crackin' Crab on Soncy had its doors locked yesterday, and my guess is that it wasn't by choice. We've seen this with a couple of different businesses around town in the last year or so. Some have reopened, some have not.

Why Was The Restaurant Closed

According to the sign on the door, the closing was involuntary. "The locks to these premises have been changed pursuant to the provisions of Section 93.002, Texas Property Code. If applicable, keys to these premises may be obtained by contacting the property management company listed below..."

Yes, that is the sign that gets slapped up on a door, typically when rent hasn't been paid. I don't want to assume that's exactly what it is, because there could be several other reasons as to why the note was on the door; that just tends to be the reason more often than not.

I have reached out to owner Kensi Syvoraraj for comment and to see if the restaurant will be opening back up. I will update once I hear back from her. Hoping things are ok and the location will reopen soon!
