Most people know about The Big Texan. It's one of the reasons many people travel to Amarillo. It's famous for its 72-oz Steak Challenge. Over 100,000 people have attempted to chow down on this steak, with only about 10,500 people actually beating the challenge.
Molly Schuyler holds the record for completing the Big Texan Steak Challenge in under 5 minutes. She broke the record in 2014. Then she returned in 2016 and ate three Big Texan Steak Challenges in less than 20 minutes.

The Big Texan's Deeper History
The Big Texan opened in March 1960 in Amarillo in the old Underwood's BBQ building. From there, it evolved into the Big Texan Restaurant we know today.
