On the evening of Sunday, November 12, 2023, a shocking incident took place which sparked an investigation by Amarillo authorities. According to an information release by the Amarillo police department, officers responded to a shooting that claimed the life of 23-year-old Aung Oo. Oo was found outside his vehicle after having sustained gunshot wounds. According to the same release the shooting initially occurred around 5:45

Sadly, despite immediate care from paramedics and other emergency workers in an effort to save his life, Oo was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead. According to APD, Oo's family was promptly notified of the incident after he was properly identified.

The Amarillo Police Department's Homicide Unit is currently seeking the public's assistance in identifying the perpetrators of this incident.

A person of interest in relation the this shooting is described as a male of unknown race, with a thin build. According to authorities, he wore an olive-green jacket over a grey hoodie, light blue denim jeans with tears/distressing on the front, black, white, and red tennis shoes, and a black mask-type face covering. e was last seen on foot in the Eastridge area near Heather Street.

This shocking incident is currently under an intense investigation and APD is urging anyone with information to come forward. Anybody with any information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Amarillo Police Homicide Unit or call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400. Hopefully, authorities can promptly catch those responsible for those who perpetrated this incident and bring them to justice.

REVIEW: Amarillo Homicides in 2022

The year 2021 saw a staggering 24 homicides in Amarillo, Texas--the highest number the city had seen since 1994. A lower figure for 2022 was predicted, but the year finished out with a total of 28 homicides.

Below is a partial list of those accused in this year's murders. We have intentionally left off this list those who have been No Billed by a grand jury, had their charges modified to a lesser offense, or wherein the accused is a juvenile.

This is not an exhaustive list and is subject to change, pending legal proceedings.
