Kramer’s Korner: Rude McDonald’s Manager Leaves Me Seething

At the core of any business is customer service, right? I know personally I'm willing to pay a little bit more for a meal, service, or items if I know I'm going to get great customer service when I walk through the doors.

I've also been known to stop frequenting some of my favorite places because the customer service has gotten bad.

Yesterday morning I was starving. I didn't eat breakfast before I left the house, and as I was sitting in the office, my stomach was screaming at me. So I popped open my McDonald's app to order up some food.

I drop in my order, send it in then hop in the car to go and pick it up. As I pull into the parking spot, I open the app to enter the parking spot I was residing in. The app wasn't allowing me to do anything, it was locked up.

So I decide to pull around to the front and go inside to see what I need to do. The lady who came up to the cash register was very nice, as was another woman who came over to look at it. She then called over her manager to take a look at it.

He informs me that they have nothing to do with the app. I said that's fine, but what do I need to do in order to get the food in my hands? He tells me I can just replace the order with them and pay them. Well, my card had already been charged, so I didn't feel like paying twice.

He's starting to get agitated already with the situation and kind of barks at me with, "well that's what you're gonna have to do or you aren't getting food" and just turns around and storms off.

Look, I understand having a bad day, but I hadn't done anything wrong not was I rude towards him. Ultimately I was able to get the app to work and I got my food, but if you're a manager of ANY store, it's your job to make sure the customer is taken care of in one way or another.

No, I'm not going to say which location it was because I'm not trying to get the guy in trouble or anything, but this seems to be a growing trend across the service industry like this.
