Regardless of which one it is for you, it's a stressful time for most people. Tax season. When it comes to doing and filing taxes, there are so many different ways people go about it. Personally, I keep it as simple as possible. I take my W2, pop it into TurboTax and I'm done.

There are those who go waist-deep in getting as many possible deductions as they can get. Saving receipts from almost every purchase they made during the year and seeing if they can really stick it to Uncle Sam.

I remember trying to do that one year, and at the end of the day, I started to worry about getting audited by the IRS, so even after all that work, I went the simple route. Maybe I should've just taken them to a tax professional and let them do it.

The problem with that is it typically costs well into the triple digits to do that, and I didn't want that much of my return going to someone else. It's tricky, right?

Now there's a way for you to understand how to go about your tax return, and it's right here in Amarillo. The Amarillo Public Library is hosting free consultations in regard to your tax return through April 12, and it sounds like it could be a very informative thing to do if you haven't already filed your taxes.

In order to have a consultation done, you have to make an appointment by clicking here. Once you've done that, you'll need to gather up your ID, social security cards for anyone included on your tax return, and your tax documents from this year AND last year.

Consultations are only available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, so you need to book your appointment quickly before all the slots fill up.
