A man is found dead in his cell at the Potter County Detention Center.

On Wednesday, March 9th, officers at the Potter County Detention center, found inmate, 26-year old, Larry Darrell Douglas Jr., unresponsive.

According to the Sheriff's Report, life saving procedures were preformed, but AMS pronounced Douglas dead.   His time of death was 10:46pm.

Douglas was in his cell alone when found.   The Texas Rangers have been called to investigate his death.   Justice of the Peace Gary Jackson was contacted after the death, and an autopsy will be performed on Friday to determine the cause of death.

No further information was provided, the investigation remains on-going.

Larry Darrell Douglas, Jr., was currently being held in the Potter County Detention Center on the following charges,  Fail to ID Fugitive Intent give False Info, Warrant: AGG Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Parole Violation, JP Warrant: No Valid Driver’s License, JP Warrant: Fail to Yield Right of Way.

In 2018, Bernard Pratt, 38-year-old male, died due to medical issues sustained prior to arrest.

In 2019, 47-year-old Genaro Rocha II, was found in his cell, he died from cardiac arrest after life saving procedures were performed.

In 2020,  Billy Ivy, Jr. found unresponsive, later determined that he died from an overdose.

In 2021, David Quannah Brown, age 37-years old, found unresponsive in a booking cell.

All of the deaths that occur in a jail facility are always investigated.   Deaths do occur in a jail facility, a lot of times, the cause of death is not known until an investigation and autopsy is performed.
