It's no surprise that Texas should be its own state. After all these years there are many people that would vote for that to happen. We just do things differently here.

I remember when I first moved here I expected that everyone had a horse. I expected everyone to ride one to school. I mean I was living in Chicago so that was not far off from the expectation I had. So I was a little disappointed when a regular old school bus picked me up to bring me to my first day at Canyon Junior High. Where was my horse?

I gave up on that dream. Now I did have a lot of friends who did own horses. It just wasn't me. When I moved into Amarillo after graduation I was introduced to the kids that rode horses to get ice cream or whatever at Dairy Queen.

I would see them in the drive-thru at I40 and Washington. I thought this is the Texas I was expecting to see. It was great. I still see them from time to time. I either catch them on their way to Dairy Queen or after their trip. There is nothing like seeing the Texas I expected before I moved here.

So I really shouldn't be too surprised when I see Potter County writing about lost horses. I do love how they decided to look for the owners. This horse is lost and needs to find his way back home.

He was at one point seen wondering lost down Grand Street. So that is a little unusual. Now this is not the first time I have seen a lost animal like this. I know horses and cows do get out. The owners are always worried sick. Just because it's not a cat or a dog don't think there is not an attachment.

So I hope this horse finds its way back home to its loved ones.
