The Move to Amarillo School of Veterinary Medicine Has Begun
Two years after first breaking ground at the Amarillo campus, the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine staff and faculty have begun moving into it.
Texas Tech has been talking of building a new veterinary program for over 50 years, but it's finally happening.
Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine Guy Longeragan said:
Today is such an exciting day. I – we all – still have to pinch ourselves to know that this isn’t a dream. It is real. And it happened because so many made it so. In particular, the Amarillo community and surrounding region, and the AEDC rallied to make it a success. We are thrilled to call Amarillo home. Our incredible team has primarily come to Amarillo to be a part of the School. They have been welcomed with open arms.
KAMC News reports that currently, the school has a team of 57 faculty and staff, and are anticipating a team of about 120 employees in time.
While staff will be moving into the east wing of the Amarillo campus, construction is still in progress for the west wing. The west wing houses the laboratory and research facilities, but is expected to be complete in October of 2021.
On Monday, August 9th, students will be arriving for orientation, and classes will officially begin on Monday, August 16th.
