Victim Dies From Injuries, Woman Arrested; Amarillo’s 3rd Homicide of 2022
The Amarillo Police Department has released a statement regarding Amarillo's third homicide for this year so far.
According to the release issued by APD
On February 1st at 10:29 AM, APD officers were called to an apartment in the 2600 block of south Spring Street on a shooting. Zaedrion Amon Morgan, 26-year-old male, was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Zaedrion was treated but died from his injuries. Jameeka Monique Bates, 25-year-old female, was detained leaving the area and later charged with Murder. Bates was booked into the Potter County Detention Center. The incident remains under investigation by the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit.
According to Potter County Detention Center records, Bates remains in custody on a murder charge and her bail has been set at $200,000.
This shooting death comes as one of several violent incidents that have occurred in rapid sequence.
On January 25, Amarillo police officers were dispatched to north Williams street where they discovered the body of Jeremie Ray Gomez (36).
On January 28, Douglas Voight (48) was arrested and charged in the shooting death of Brandi Padilla (38) and injuring another unidentified male (36).
