Open up social media and you can tell everyone in Amarillo has an opinion. Sure, we all do. Sometimes it would be nice if some of those opinions can be kept to yourself but that is a whole different story.

Recently I received something in the mail that I was not expecting. In the envelope there was money. Now, don't get too excited as it was only one dollar. Inside along with that dollar was a survey.

Interesting. What do they want from me? They want me to give my opinion about my work experience. This is a Gallup Poll. You have probably heard about them. You have probably heard the words "According to a recent Gallup poll."

Yes, here we are. They want me to participate and let them know what I feel about work. Oh, and they are paying me a dollar to do so. Sure, why not? This sounds like fun. There are only about sixty easily answered questions. How long could this take me? Probably about ten minutes at the most.

I like the idea of Amarillo being a part of this. Even more importantly someone in media talking about their job. So I am in.

What Are Some of the Questions in This Gallup Poll?

It starts off by asking me how satisfied I am with my life. I guess they are just trying to gauge if someone just hates everything. I mean if you hate your life, I guess that will help explain why they hate their job too. Sounds about right to me.

Then it starts asking everything about your job. What do you do? What are your work hours? Do you get the chance to work from home? How do you like the pay? What about the PTO at your company?

Then it starts asking if you work a second job. Oh, and I do. So they want to know why. How much do you make at this job? It is pretty extensive but easy to answer. I went ahead and filled out everything the way they wanted.

Yes, I was right, it would take about ten minutes. So if you hear about the recent Gallup Poll about work experiences just know I was a part of that. I did have a dollar to show for it. Once.

The Many Changes of Coulter Street Over the Years

There have been many businesses that have come and gone on Coulter Street. Some have even been there so long that they have received face lifts over the years.
